What are actionable genes?
Why are they important?

Leading genetics experts with American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) selected a list of genes that have significant impact on some of the most devastating diseases to beset the human condition. Risk variants in these genes significantly increase the risk for these conditions, many of which are medically actionable, that is preventable, today!

1 in 28 individuals are at risk of a medically actionable heritable disease[1]

Many people are unaware of their genetic disease risks because they do not experience any symptoms nor even have family history of disease. Finding out you have actionable genes is the first step to prevention.

Early detection can improve cancer survival rates

ActOnGenes reports wide range of cancer conditions. Identifying risk factors is an important advantage to screen for certain cancers earlier. Early detection can improve survival rates significantly.

You may be at high risk for a heart disease without knowing

People with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) have a high risk of developing a form of heart disease called coronary artery disease at a young age.[2] 1 in 250 individuals have familial hypercholesterolemia but most people have never been diagnosed. When FH is diagnosed and treated early in life the risk is greatly reduced, by up to as much as 80%.[3]

It’s important to stay up to date!

Science is always improving. ActOnGenes will report not only pathogenic but all variants. Some of the non-pathogenic variants will be benign, produce unknown effects or offer conflicting research findings. As clinics and laboratories discover new information on non-pathogenic variants, ActOnGenes will update your risk susceptibilities immediately.

23andme Raw Data Health Analysis

ActOnGenes unique service analyses the 59 most important disease risk genes in your 23andme raw data file. Unlike other services, variants in the reports will not be selected or filtered, and you will receive unedited results from all eligible variants in your data.
